YouTube and Netflix Streaming on LG BD 300 is The Greatest Thing Ever
I got an LG BD300 for my birthday, and so far, I absolutely love this device. By the far the most used feature is Netflix streaming.
Fortunately form me, my router is right next to my TV, so connecting the machine was very simple: just run an ethernet cord out from my Apple Airport into the BD300. Volia, I’m connected.
The quality is quite good, and network problems are rare. I can’t get the highest quality, but it is still very good.
The library is actually very impressive. There are tons of recent popular TV shows like Heroes and 30 Rock, and all of the movies one could watch on the Starz network. There are tons of cheesy older movies on there as well, and a ton of classics.
This isn’t the only device out there that broadcasts Netflix streaming. Samsung has a Blu-Ray device that does the same (and has gotten pretty good reviews). Tivo HD offers it, X-Box 360, and Roku makes a player just for Netflix.
There is some talk that Netflix may offer a steaming-only option. If you normally go down to Blockbuster but want set-top streaming, this may be a good idea. I’d love to see more content on there (I’m using it so much that I’m about to run out of interesting things to watch) but I am impressed with the deal they got with Starz.
In the long run, LG BD300’s best feature may be the ability to watch YouTube through it on TV. My girlfriend works late and wanted to watch the Obama speech, and I forgot to record it. So we just flipped on YouTube, found it, and watched it.
Everything get going very quickly too, both Netflix and YouTube. The speed is impressive.
LG will offer Netflix streaming with its HDTVs coming soon. This is just the beginning, and it’s impressive to see Netflix grow organically without having to be forced into evolving because of problems.
