The countdown begins: TomCruise.com is launching on Monday morning.

Certainly, this is the biggest moment in the history of the Web. Forget Web 2.0, we now have Web Tom.0.

The page currently has a countdown clock on it, and nothing else, that glows strangely whenever the number ‘25′ ticks by on the seconds clock. Perhaps this represents the number of people left in the world who don’t think Tom is nuts.

The site has made some purchases on Google Adwords, because when you Google “tom cruise,” a link to the site is positioned tantalizingly in the upper right corner of the screen. The text of the ad is even more mysterious: “The Official Site Launches Soon. You’ll Never Guess What’s Coming!”

No word yet on what the site is about, but apparently, we’ll never guess what it is. Maybe Tom will use the site to discuss his passion for raising alpacas.

In spite of the Church of Scientology’s many notable attempts at Internet censorship, I think the Tom Cruise hatefest is a little over the top. There’s no problem with ridiculing him, but the venom is a little out of hand in comparison to the massive fleet of other, more destructive nutjobs roaming the earth.

But, there’s no doubt, Tom is nutty. We’ll see how it plays out on his site.
