There’s No Stopping the Torrents
uTorrent, a P2P filesharing client that is owned by BitTorrent, doubled its number of installs over the last year as torrents continue to run rampant across the Internet.
uTorrent, which isn’t currently available for Mac, is a small but powerful torrent client that seems most popular amongst more tech-savvy users and Europeans. Limewire continues to be the most popular client, but is quickly losing popularity and has gained a reputation as being the more amateur of the torrent clients.
In other torrent news, Demonoid is back online in Canada after a long time-out. Having been booted out of the Netherlands and having encountered problems with their move to Canada, the tracker was moved to Ukraine and the site remained down. But the site is back now.
Also, The Pirate Bay, loving to stick it to everybody, has renamed itself “Liberty Bay.” Apparently, copies of the much anticipated Grand Theft Auto sequel are circulating on the site. Be warned: Microsoft will ban you from XBox Live forever if they catch you with a pirated game.
