Like Joseph Stalin? Need a Cell Phone? You’re in Luck

Well, there’s really nothing funny about Joseph Stalin. He was a brutal dictator who was responsible for the death of tens of millions.

But in Russia, he’s still pretty popular–even rated the third greatest Russian of all time in a recent poll where over 4 million Russians took part. Perhaps Putin’s iron grip over the country has made Russians nostalgic for ol’ Stalin.

Now it appears that industrious Russians are taking advantage of the affinity for Stalin by releasing Nokia phones that have images of Joseph Stalin theme them. That’s right: a Stalin theme.

Below the fold: pictures!

Apparently, different classes of Nokia phones are being sold for between $200 and $2000. If that sounds like a lot of money, you haven’t been to Moscow lately.

For the record, Nokia has nothing to do with this. “Even if Nokia was on the brink of ruin and release phones or panel with a portrait of Stalin was the only chance to save our business, Nokia will [not do] that,” said a Nokia official.

Here is a clip that has nothing to do with this post.

What is next? Lenin? Ivan the Terrible? Sarah Palin?

The novelty of having a Stalin-themed Nokia might be too much to resist for some wealthy Russians.

Yet another clip that has nothing to do with the post.
