Jessica Lee Rose Works With United Nations

While most people don’t know the name Jessica Less Rose, millions of people know her character Bree or Lonelygirl15. Lonelygirl15 is the most subscribed channel on YouTube, and it came out last month that the whole persona was created by a company.

So far the only financial deal we know of was the Lonelygirl15 team would start making videos for YouTube competitor, Revver. But Jessica Lee Rose joined with the United Nations today in their Stand Up campaign.

I personally believe this is one of the best idea I have seen in a while. Non profits waste millions of dollars on television PSA’s every year. And who among us cannot sense those within a split second and tune them out. It’s not that people don’t care, they just don’t know what they can do about it at that moment. But by having Jessica direct this message to a younger audience, in a format that will not be ignored, and while the people are online, is brilliant. The viewer is sitting in front of a computer, and they are given a Web address to get more information.

Jessica also delivers the strong message to the new generation that they can be part of the first generation to stomp out poverty.

I’m glad to see an organization that knows how to reach teens through the Web. Especially after seeing how some politicians try to reach teens through the Web.
