Google Checkout Glitches

Users of the online payment processing system known as “Google Checkout” have recently reported technical glitches. The service which some analyst say could pose a direct threat to the distinguished eBay and PayPal, is experiencing longer than anticipated delays to process orders.

Google states that “Occasionally, these procedures result in brief delays for a small percentage of users” and that continual efforts are being put forth to make the online checkout process as efficient as possible. Some shoppers have complained that orders through Google Checkout have canceled without justification. Shopper Rhys Ludlow simply gave up on the service after waiting four days to process an order for a digital camera.

Google Checkout which is accepted by such websites as Starbucks and Timberland, allows shoppers to store their credit card information with Google so shoppers don’t have to continually provide payment info to online merchants each time they shop.

Google prides itself on releasing its products early and then fixes any software bugs after the fact via user feedback. Although users seem willing to allow Google to work out the kinks in other services such as Google Video, users may be less enchanted with Google’s approach releasing Google Checkout.
