FriendFeed is Really Addictive

I have to admit, that ever since I joined FriendFeed and started following some of the tech people on there (Robert Scoble, Michael Arrington, MG Seigler, among others), I can’t quit checking it out.

First of all, it has yet to be raided by the inevitable morons that crash any commenting site and turn it into amateur hour at the junior high gym. There are sophisticated discussions going on constantly about politics and technology. Friendfeed’s aggregator lets people post videos from YouTube, tweets from Twitter, pictures from Flickr, Diggs from, well, Digg. It got me back using Twitter again after sort of ignoring it for a long time.

Second, it aggregates so much stuff for your Facebook profile. Instead of having separate Facebook apps for Digg, Twitter, etc., Friendfeed puts it all in one big box that takes away a lot of the clutter from your Facebook apps page.

Third, it works great on Opera Mini on my Nokia E71. Twittering, uploading camera photos from Flickr, and checking out FriendFeed itself is a breeze. iPhone with Safari definitely is the state of the art in mobile browsing, but Opera Mini on Symbian with my Nokia E71 is foolproof. I have had zero problems with it. Sometimes I wish I’d gone with the iPhone, but the great battery life, huge range of apps, perfect call quality, and lack of any problems whatsoever has definitely not gone unnoticed. I’ll wait until the next gen iPhone and see what Android pulls off before I go for the next level. Believe me, I love the looks of the iPhone, I’m just kind of wimpy and the problems spooked me.

But this post was supposed to be about Friendfeed.

Perhaps the most appealing part of Friendfeed is that when a friend of yours comments on something you posted, all of that person’s friends see that comment. So if you only have three friends and you post something, and one of your three friends who has a thousand friends likes it, a thousand people will be exposed to that post. It’s a great tool to utilize to drive traffic to your blog or website.

I know I’m hooked.
