FireFox Vulnerability Exposed
At a recent ToorCon hacker conference in San Diego, a pair of hackers revealed a critical flaw found in Mozilla FireFox, the browser commonly referred to as the “safer” alternative web Browser to Internet Explorer.
The pair of hackers presented the critical bug during the hacker conference, almost completely demonstrating how one could exploit the flaw by creating a webpage with malicious JavaScript code, affecting computers running Firefox browsers. The hackers went on to explain how the exploit could lead to remote control of any affected computer including Windows, Linux, and Apple.
According to the hackers, the JavaScript implementation is a “complete mess” and that the bug would be “impossible to patch.” Mozilla security staff also in attendance at the conference stated that the issue appears to be a “real vulnerability” and encouraged the pair of hackers to use Mozilla’s bug reporting system which pays $500 to anyone who reports a FireFox browser vulnerability.
