Twitter Nation Turns Bobby Jindal Into Kenneth the Page
During any major event, I like to get Twitscoop going on my computer so I can see what people are collectively thinking about something. Twitscoop measures different words used in Tweets against how often they are normally used, and produces a tag cloud that amplifies the words that are being used more than others.
Obama’s speech had many different words of different size in the tag cloud.
But not Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal.
Jindal’s speech, the Republican response to Obama’s, wasn’t his best hour. I doubt anyone would argue that. Almost immediately, I Tweeted that he reminded me of Kenneth the Page from the NBC comedy 30 Rock.
I wasn’t the only one. In fact, after a minute or two, the word “kenneth” appeared very small on Twitscoop. But then it started growing and growing, until this was what was seen:

The only word besides “Jindal” that was amplified on Twitscoop was “kenneth.”
I have to admit I cracked up.
Twitter is proving to be more useful to search when something is breaking than Google. And it’s also great for tapping into collective moments like this speech tonight. It’s a lot of fun, and a lot can be learned from it.
