Bloggertrail Stealing Content Through Word Play
I spent last week at the Blogworld conference in Las Vegas. One of the primary tracks from the conference, and the session I spoke at, was on how to monetize blogs. Obviously the most common answer is to throw AdSense on your blog. The fact I being a pro blogger is not a difficult recipe. Take one blog, add content and AdSense. The more content you add, the more money you should make. You can of course add other items like Blogitive to make money even faster.
One of the primary challenges is of course creating the content. Since your revenue is based primarily on your ability to pump out content, there is a significant desire to create automated content. Yesterday I created a blog posting on my personal site about Gamewar. Since my blog has been around for years, and seems to be highly trusted by Google, I saw my post indexed within 90 minutes! That’s right, within 90 minutes I was on the first page for the term Gamewar. I did some checking in Google’s Blog Search and found something interesting. Take a look at the two posts below. The first is my post, and the second is a post from bloggertrail.com. It looks like they have just taken a feed from my blog and had some automated script replace certain terms.
and…
After doing a little checking on Bloggertrail.com, I found they also openly sell links on their site for $130 per month. Which by the way is crazy. Blogitive gets clients links at $20 per link with no monthly fee to keep it up.
This would be an example of the types of sleazy site you want to stay clear of when buying links. Google is not known for their stupidity and will obviously figure this out pretty fast.
It looks like BloggerTrail may have stolen a few of my posts, so I contacted them to ask them to remove my content.
