Who is Better? Facebook or MySpace?

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Asking this question of who is better…Facebook or Myspace, it’s almost like a PC or Mac commercial. I keep hearing about Facebook and MySpace in constant competition for the social networking lead. So I’ve decided to setup an account on both unique web spaces and see for myself what all the hooyah is about. I’ve briefly held a myspace account to keep tabs on my teens myspace activities, but never really delved into it for myself until now. So this will be a unique view of the differences between the two.

Friday, September 28th, 2007

As some of you may know, NetResults owns eSnacks.com, which sells vintage and bulk candy. The site provides a nice little revenue stream, while also provide us a great test site for SEO work.

eSnacks is now a few months old, and how it still shows no PageRank, it does rank for a lot of great terms. As a matter of fact, eSnacks provides thousands of dollars per month of profit without any paid advertising. We acquire all our orders through organic search listings, and Google Product Search.

This provides a clean look at the power of search engines. For example, our three biggest sellers, Milkfuls, Cadbury Flakes and Wonka Bars are all ranked well in Google. Virgin Mobile Sued for Illegal Use of Teen’s Flickr Photo

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

A family in Dallas is suing Australia based Virgin Mobile phone company for using their daughter’s photo for their advertising campaign. The lawsuit, filed in state district court in Dallas, names Virgin Mobile USA LLC, its Australian counterpart, and Creative Commons Corp., as defendants.

The family claims this caused their teenage daughter grief and humiliation by having her photo on billboards and Web site advertisements without consent. As a parent, I can understand the frustration of someone using your child’s photo without your knowledge, it’s not acceptable whatsoever. In this case, the photo was put on Flickr by an every day Joe that went to church camp and was sharing his photos with his friends through the Flickr forum.

eBay was Hacked!

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Early yesterday morning, eBay was hacked! They apparantly had someone posting confidential names, contact information, and credit card numbers for approximately 1,200 eBay users. eBay claims that the names appear to be eBay users, but as far as they can tell the credit card information doesn’t seem to be accurate to the members names. They’re attempting to reach the users involved by telephone to notify them about what has happened and to take the appropriate actions to protect themselves.

You’ve gotta give eBay a hand for trying to remedy the unfortunate situation. Within an hour they had their forum removed from public view and they’re working diligently at taking care of the matter against this Fraudster.

Free…with what conditions?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Have you noticed that service providers tell you their specific service is Free, but you come to find out there are limitations to the Free portion? Or you have Unlimited use, but in the fine print there are so many limitations, that it voids out their selling point? Worse part is when you incur fees for something you believed to be Free. That’s creative marketing at it’s best and technology is subtly advancing this to making consumers endure Ads now too. Two new companies like a British cellphone service called, “Blyke” and Pudding Media are implementing these marketing ploys as we speak.
