We have a lot of different offices at USWeb, and I really wanted a shared phone system. It seemed like a VoIP telephony system was the way to go. With many of these systems you can have a shared main number with people in other states, have extensions as well as direct dial, voice mail to email, three digit dialing to other extensions, etc… Basically all the amenities you would have in a normal enterprise office line. CBS Testing Bluetooth Technology in Grand Central Station

CBS will be promotinig their Fall lineup in Grand Central Station utilizing Bluetooth technology. There will be billboards in the station with Bluetooth technology beaming video clips to cell phones, smart phones and PDAs. The owners of these Bluetooth devices will have the option to accept the video and view the 30 second video clip. There will be a total of 5 billboards of different shows that they will be promoting this Labor Day weekend through September. [more…]

Danny Sullivan to Leave Search Engine Strategies and search Engine Watch

Danny Sullivan announced his departure from Search Engine Strategies and Search Engine Watch today, after ten years of service.

It seems that after Incisive Media acquired SEW and SES from Jupiter Media, Danny was unable to negotiate a new contract that made sense for him. This is a tremendous loss to both SES and SEW, and I can only hope that Incisive will see that and remedy the situation. Danny has long been the face of this industry. There is no one with more experience in promoting the search industry to the press than Danny. [more…]

Toshiba to make Microsoft’s Zune

Microsoft has confirmed that Japanese firm Toshiba will make its portable media player - “Zune” - to be released before the end of the year.

Toshiba’s filing with the Federal Communications Commission showed the Zune will have a 30-gigabyte hard-disk drive and wireless connection.

Microsoft declined to provide any further product details. [more…]
